Proceeds go to Central Texas Wildfire victims who suffered losses estimated at over $250 Million.  The fire outside of Bastrop destroyed more homes than any in Texas history.  Many of the short term needs of the people affected by the fires have been met, the goal of Fire Relief is to help them with long term issues and problems such as regaining livelihoods.  Proceeds to be distributed by Central Texas Wildfire Fund and the Austin Community Foundation

The Band – Formed in 2001, the legend of Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes is a noble tale of friends, funk and fortitude. It is the coagulation of classically trained musicians breaking the confines of the genre in a most likely musical haven; New Orleans. Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes has been known to boldly impress their audiences with more than music, which sometimes involves the removal of clothes, bizarre costumes and the coercion of certain audience members to partake in odd antics. The band is a collection of carefully crafted alter egos, mystical musicians hesitant to share their personal selves but collectively ready to funk beyond the call of duty. Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes is a collective, an ensemble, a five person phone booth in which mild mannered classical guy Clark Kent goes in and Johnny The Wild Superman comes out. And come to think of it, that also involves costumes and the dumping of garments.

Marc Paradis (guitar, electric cello, lead vocals) IS Johnny Sketch. Named during a California trip to visit a brother by a strange hippy chick who dunked his head under ten days of constantly using the word sketch and sketchy, Johnny was destined to purge himself of earthly bonds and become the impetus of Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes.

Dave Pomerleau (bass & backing vocals) a.k.a. Busta Gnutt, readily admits to ,”..never thinking of doing anything else,” but playing music. He has studied bass under Peter Harris, Dave Anderson, Dale Cortello and Allen Nisbit and is currently teaching students from 5 to 40 years old.

Andre Bohren (drums & backing vocals) is Dirty Johnny. Literally born on the road in an airstream trailer, it is only right Sir Dirty should end up many years later most at home with wheels under his feet. Son of blues legend, Spencer Bohren, Sir Dirty remembers quite vividly a nine year old Andre watching La Bamba and being forever changed.

Omar Ramirez (trumpet & flügelhorn) is Johnny Rico. He calls his time in Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes, “the most intense relationship I’ve ever had.” Ramirez cut his teeth playing trumpet in salsa bands eventually ending up in fourteen of them at once.

Andre Mouton (baritone & alto sax) is Johnny Rockit, the newest of The Dirty Notes. Andre was immersed in the wild abandon musical free for all of Johnny Sketch when he joined the band on stage at the April 2006 French Quarter Festival after one rehearsal.

The Venue: The Parish

Calling all Shuckers and Suckers,

Friends, Cajuns, countrymen… Yeah You Right. It’s that time of year again. The Annual Shuck and Suck Classic Crawfish and Oyster Fest is drawing near and is here to fill that void of spice, sodium, cold beers, and bottom feeders in your hearts and stomachs.

Again this year we will combine the efforts of Quality Seafood, Glazers Distributors, and The Electric Company to create the likes of a boil never seen. We are currently hard at work putting together all the details, but you can be sure this year will be one of the best in Austin. With live music, moonwalk, and other fun activities, there will be plenty to keep the kids occupied so load up the truckster and bring the whole family.

The mother of all boils will go down Saturday April 30th on the Lawn of American Legion Hall (Next to Deep Eddy Pool and Lady Bird Lake). So bring your swimsuits, Kayaks, and Stand Up Paddleboards. We are limiting capacity this year to be sure everyone has plenty of food. Rich from Quality Seafood, Austin’s best seafood market, is providing up to 1000 pounds of the choicest farm raised mud bugs and oysters known to man and boiling them up like only Quality can.

Just as year’s past, this year S&S will benefit Habitat for Humanity and so portions of the proceeds of your $25 ticket will go to a good cause. Your food and drinks (libations too) all day are included in your cost for your ticket. So no matter what Parish you’re from, bring it on down to Shuck and Suck and celebrate another beautiful spring in Austin Texas. As mentioned kids under 12 are free and 12-20 year old kids are a $10 donation.

An all-star Austin tribute to Pink Floyd live in concert at Austin’s most breath-taking venue. Austin’s best studio and touring musicians come together to recreate a Pink Floyd experience. UPDATE: We have just confirmed with city officials that this will be the last show ever at Seaholm Power Plant before a long multi-year redevelopment plan begins.  While Seaholm’s time as an event space has been brief, the events that have taken place at Seaholm have been amazing and the last two years has only endeared the public even more to this art deco industrial timepiece.   So whether you are a fan of Pink Floyd or not, come celebrate this fleeting but epic era in the history of an Austin icon.

Benefiting: Anthropos Arts

Anthropos is an Austin-based nonprofit organization, working primarily in the East Austin community to bring top professional musicians into Title I, low-income middle and high schools to offer free music lessons, workshops, master classes, and performance opportunities to economically disadvantaged youth giving them an outlet and pathways to scholarships and a brighter future.

The Concept:

What classic rock music fan hasn’t looked up at the smokestacks at Seaholm Power Plant and envisioned a pink pig flying above?  We at The Electric Company could not let the small window of opportunity left for shows at Seaholm go by without bringing that vision to life. This epic Pink Floyd tribute for the ages will recreate the live Pink Floyd experience, completed by an amazing light show from ILIOS Lighting, top-flight sound, and special effects.

Opening Band: Moving Matter

The Band

Recreating a Pink Floyd sonic experience is ambitious to say the least.  Some of Austin’s best studio and touring musicians have been recruited to the project to recreate a 2-set show of Pink Floyd consisting of material from the full career of Pink Floyd complete with the favorites as well as deep tracks rarely or never played live.  The music director, Chris Maresh, has a multitude of his own honors, albums, and tours under his belt and has pieced together a collective of musicians who are some of the most technically capable musicians at their instruments you can find, all with their own share of accolades.

Opening: Markus with a K

This year the Seaholm Power Plant was transformed into a space station.  The evening included countless surprises and the lovely and vivacious Mandy Lauderdale joined us our emcee and official countdown diva.

It is looking more and more likely this may be the last New Year’s Eve for some time at Seaholm as various lengthy construction projects draw near, so we sent her out right. National headliners, N.A.S.A. and Rueben Wu of Ladytron performed to a capacity crowd.
